My Teacher Vision

Many years ago, I was interning at a great PR firm in Manhattan. I was about to graduate from college and they wanted to hire me. It was an exciting place to be and I should have been thrilled, but I felt unfulfilled. In a world of schmoozing with movers and shakers, the work seemed somehow untrue to the pulse of what really mattered to me. That was when I first started thinking about teaching. As a Communications Major and English Minor, I felt strongly that English Education could be revamped to help students develop better communication skills and to better negotiate their identities within our society. I couldn't stop thinking about it!

To make it happen, I moved from Long Island to Greensboro to pursue an M.Ed. at UNCG. I then taught for four years in Guilford County where I had the wonderful opportunity to learn from some excellent teachers and administrators. I've also worked with North Carolina Virtual Public School, teaching English online with their Occupational Course of Study Program. I'm excited to be part of the WSCS Staff for the 2017-2018 school year and can't wait to see how God will work this year!
